ENUSP raises questions for EU review by CRPD Committee

By | 04/09/2016

On 4 March 2015, ENUSP sent a submission to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee) to inform the members of this Committee about key issues impacting the rights of persons with psychosocial disabilities within the European Union. The submission was made in light of the upcoming review by the CRPD Committee of the European Union’s implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

In the ENUSP submission on the EU to the CRPD Committee, ENUSP highlights several human rights violations in the EU, and suggests questions for the List of Issues for the upcoming review of the European Union’s implementation of the CRPD. The List of Issues for EU review will be compiled by the CRPD Committee in its 13th session, on 2 April 2015. The more extended EU State Party review by the CRPD Committee will take place at the 14th session of the CRPD Committee in August/September 2015.

ENUSP will also be submitting a parallel report (NGO report) for the EU review at the 14th session of the CRPD Committee, which will be compiled during the next few months in close cooperation with ENUSP members (more information will follow soon).
