We are happy to inform the audience that our member Luc Thibaud (France) won the third place(ex aequo) in the photo competition “Reclaiming Your Rights” organized by EDF. His photo was presented also at the European Days of Persons with Disabilities (see below the photo our representative, Jolijn Santegoeds with the photo of the winner).

Luc describes the meaning of the photo as follows: “This photo was taken during my art work for the CHRUSP absolute prohibition of forced hospitalization and forced treatment campaign.

I was wearing the Monty Python’s Spanish Inquisition costume, a symbol of psychiatry around the neck instead of a Holy Cross, and I point to an APA’s DSM V volume instead of a Bible.

I wear dark glasses to remind the audience that the psychiatric dogma logic transforms care into torture, and care professionals into torturers, who kidnap, force drug, tie up and threaten innocent persons.

In many cases in my country, France, these tortures are aimed at converting the persons into the belief that they have the postulated lifelong brain disease, or so-called mental health condition, they have been labeled with. As Dr Thomas Szasz has pointed out in his book “The manufacture of madness”, this is exactly like the Inquisitor of the past who would have forced his victims to confess a heresy or some kind of supposed demonic possession.”
