MHE collects testimonies on forced treatment and institutionalization

Our ally, Mental Health Europe, is currently updating and expanding the Mapping Exclusion Report which was published in 2012.

As part of  this revision, a section entitled ‘Understanding Exclusion’ will give the perspective of persons with lived experience of institutionalisation, forced placement and treatment and seclusion and restraint.

The survey and information sheet can be found here: http://www.mhe-sme.org/projects/mapping-exclusion/. The online submission form is very simple, anonymous and is designed in a way which allows people to share their stories as they wish. The information sheet for the call for participants provides all the background information and informs interested participants about the scope of the projects, as well as their rights.

People interested in sharing their story can:

  • Get in contact with MHE to ask to be interviewed by one of the researchers or MHE staff, most likely via telephone or Skype or in person depending where you live;
  • Submit a written anonymous testimony on-line either in English or in the language you prefer (replies in other languages will then by translated by the University of Kent in a way that respects the privacy of applicants).

Anonymous testimonies can be sent on-line until 15 June 2017.

The survey and information sheet are also being translated into other languages which are available at link above. At the moment the survey and information sheet are available in English, French, Italian, Hungarian, Romanian, Finnish, Dutch, Czech, Polish, Croatian and Slovenian but they will also be available in German, Spanish, Serbian/Bosnian, and Greek.

It is important to collect as many voices as possible because every testimony counts and represents a blow against the current abusive system. ENUSP encourages you to take part in the survey and give your testimony.
