The mad hatter
A regional organisation with 15 members.
Membership: users and survivors of psychiatry and activists willing to fight against psychiatric abuses and promote psychiatric users’ and survivors’ social inclusion and empowerment.
Purpose: to defend and improve psychiatric users’/survivors’ human rights and empower their self-help capacity. The main goal is to raise awareness about the users’ and survivors’ main concern: self determination and freedom from bodily harm.
Main activities: mad-pride organisation, set-up of a national user/survivor network, help in individual cases of abuse.

National organization with 100 members, the majority of them are (ex-)users and survivors of psychiatry. There are also family members and friends, professionals and non-user volunteers.
The organization was established on 25 July 2018.
Objectives and aims:
Ensuring respect of the fundamental rights of mental health service users, especially of those “subjected”:
1) to various forms of coercion in the psychiatric field;
2) to the so-called “institutions of protection” of the individual (guardianship, curatorship, trusteeship called “Administrative Support”):
3) to security measures for non-attributable individuals
Activities
1) elaboration of reform designs aimed at introducing elements of major protection and guarantee of the individual within the coercive procedures in the psychiatric field;
2) reporting, on individual cases as well as on systemic problems, to national and international supervisory and monitoring institutions;
3) information and sensibilization Campaigns on these issues.
We provide information on issues related to coercion in the psychiatric field, in particular on the rights of people subjected to involuntary treatment, guardianship, support administration (trustee)

- any resource or financing not prohibited by law
