Ukrainian Public Organization of Users of Psychiatric Help (USER)

A national organization with 380 members. Currently all of them are users and survivors of psychiatry, however according to the Statutes membership is possible for every person who is willing to defend human rights in psychiatry.

Objectives and aims:
Protection of human rights of users and survivors of psychiatry
Human rights education for users/survivors of psychiatry, their relatives, legal representatives, guardians, appropriate Governmental Stakeholders
Strategic litigation (Semenenko VS Ukraine ECHR case)

Activities:human rights education, civil campaigns, legal and social support of users/survivors of psychiatry

There are 21 regional offices of the organization on the territory of Ukraine, including the Eastern areas involved in armed conflict (Starobelsk-Lugansk Region, Gornyak-Donetsk Region).
Due to the political situation in the country “USER” has declined the Governmental financial support in order to be independent from the Government, because from the organization’s perspective the Government is the main cause of the human rights violations.
