ENIK Recovery College, the Netherlands

The organization operates on a local/regional scale. It has a broad network on a national level, with more than 600 members, all of whom are ex-users or users of psychiatry.

ENIK Recovery College is involved in the development of peer support and recovery oriented care on a local/regional and national level.

Sources of funding

ENIK Recovery College receives direct (and indirect via Lister) funding from the local government.

Organisation structure

ENIK Recovery College is part of Lister (as a semi  independent peer run facility). Ton Verspoor is the manager and he has to account to the board of directors of Lister.

ENIK is peer run and build on the peer values. The organization tries to build and maintain a peer support environment based on reciprocity, equality, hope, meaning making, empowerment and using experiential knowledge. It is a co-creation between peer support workers and peers ((ex)-users of psychiatry/people with (past) addiction).
